What is Modern Free
Modern Free & Accepted Masons of the World Inc. is a benevolent and
Patriotic Society, established to promote Friendship, Brotherly Love
among it's members and to carry on benevolent work for the relief of
the needy & helpless in our communities.
Order of the Eastern Star
The Order of the Eastern Star is an adoptive rite of Freemasonry with
teachings based on the Bible and objective that are charitable and
benevolent. It is the largest Fraternal Organization in the world to
which women and men can belong.
Purpose: The stated purpose of the organization are Charitable,
Educational, Fraternal, and Scientific. To provide an organization where
women and men with high moral and social character, can contribute
much time, energy and wisdom to our Order with Charity, Truth and
Loving Kindness for the good of all mankind throughout the world.
The Order provides us with a means of compassion and concern, not
only for our fellow Sisters and Brothers of the Order, but to Ourselves,
Our Country, and Our Faith. Each of us has an inner needs to do
something for others, the Order offers guidance and provides an
outlet, as well as serving as a resource center and support group.
The Order using beautiful and inspiring biblical examples of heroic
conduct and moral values. These portray the noble principles which
should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. The order is
not a religion, even though we are religious in character.
The Order does not pretend to take the place of a religion, or serve as
a substitute for the religious beliefs of it's members. Our members do
come from all denomination.
Eastern Stars strive to take good people and through uplifting and
elevating associations of love and service, through precept and
example, build an order which is truly dedicated to charity, truth and
loving kindness.
The Order of the Eastern Star is based on five famous religious
heroines: Adah, Ruth, Esther, Electa and Martha.
The degrees of the Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity,
constancy, loyalty, faith and love.
These degrees are presented in a beautiful ceremony designed to not
only teach the lessons, but also provide insight for future study and
understanding. Unlike Blue Lodge Freemasonry, this is based on actual
historical events in the lives of Adah, Ruth, Esther, Electa and Martha
and moral truth that was evidenced by them.
Members must be eighteen years or older, or a Master Mason in good
standing. An applicant for initiation does not have to be vouched for by
father, brother, or husband who is a Mason.
Each chapter have eighteen officers, some elected and others
appointed.
Each chapter retains the right to decide who shall be a member of the
organization.
Election to the degrees must be unanimous, without debate, and
secret. The successful candidate must profess a belief in a Supreme
being and is initiated in five degrees, which conferred in one ceremony.
Our Chapter continue to search for women who's characters are
befitting the awesome robe of Freemasonry. We will continue to
protect the Life, Liberty and Happiness of our members and bring to our
communities the wonderful things that Freemasonry has to offer.
Questions and Answers
What procedures should I follow when I have decided that I would like
to join a chapter? Fill out the information section below and a member
will contact you. A petition for membership will be provided for you to fill
out.
What happens after I submit my petition? Your petition will be submitted,
shortly after the members of the investigation committee will contact you
individually to set up a time and place for a meeting. This is done to ask a
few simple questions, to provide you with an opportunity to meet some of
the members, to provide you an opportunity to ask and receive answers to
any additional questions that you might have and the information that the
committee receives will be reported to the Worthy Matron.
What will be the next step? The report will be submitted to the Chapter
members at a stated meeting and a vote will be taken. If favorable, you
will have been elected to receive the Degrees of the Order of the Eastern
Star. You will be notified of the result and arrange for you to be initiated
into the Order.
Misconceptions
Is the Order of the Eastern Star a secret society? No. Secret societies
are underground and hard to find. We are easily found within the
community; but we do enjoy a distinctive means of identifying each other.
Only members are allowed in a close meeting.
Is the Order patriotic and democratic? Yes. Members are taught an
allegiance to preserve the good order of their country. We strongly support
the government of the United States of America.
